One of my favourite Before and Afters is this fireplace. Dated, dirty and quite sad looking with it’s high two stone mantel pieces…it was in desperate need of a make over.
David Walley of Walkrete; artistic Designers of concrete resurfacing, created the lovely faux stone finish. Pretty neat how it is done actually; once the two mantel stones were ripped out, a skim coat of concrete was put over all the original brick. Then the whole surface area was taped off in a design, then another thicker coat of concrete was put overtop of the tape. When it had dried, it was painted.
The tape was taken off and then it was sealed.
My husband made the new mantel and stained it to match our TV armoire.
